Ubuntu Stall at Intel Channel Conference

It was a surprise to find an Ubuntu stall at the Intel Channel Conference at Kochi on the 15th of june 2007, probably the first stall by ubuntu in Kerala. Thanks to Satish from Abacus Peripherals for calling Jay Jacob , ILUG moderator and connecting with Mr Mathew Barker from Ubuntu.

We immediately rushed to Le Meridian to meet the guy in person, and I was kind of surprised to see, how humble he was and how well he communicated with the all of us. Probably it was that he has been in India for the past 4 months.

Although he was here for presenting Ubuntu on the commercial front, he praised us on our efforts and congratulated us on our 10th year. He also asked us to keep the communication with him so that we can look forward to getting some help from Ubuntu to spread the awareness in kerala.

One lucky fellow who came with us got a Mercury motherboard for Intel Core 2 Duo processor and contributed it to ILUG Cochin.

Such events and stalls conducted by companies that reign in the FOSS market will be a tremendous boost to the FOSS penetration into the commercial segment in Kerala and India.
